William "Bill" Austin Price Jr.

William "Bill" Austin Price Jr., 84, passed away at his residence on July 29, 2026. Bill was born on June 27, 1942, in Bluffton, Indiana, to William A. Price Sr. and Roberta Inskeep Price. After graduating from Lancaster High School in 1960, Bill farmed alongside his father and grandfather for Brickley Farms before enlisting in the Bluffton National Guard in 1961. On July 20, 1962, he married the love of his life, Susan Hogg. Together they shared 64 years of marriage and built a life centered on family and hard work. Bill was a lifelong farmer who also worked for Franklin Electric and Thermton. Later, he became an independent truck driver hauling grain while continuing to farm. After many years of driving independently, he joined Wilkin Farms as farm manager, where he worked until his retirement. Retirement didn't slow Bill down. To keep busy, he delivered campers and continued doing what he loved most—farming—for Prible Farms and Barcus Farms. Bill was known for his strong work ethic, and his ability to fix just about anything (MacGyver used to call dad for advice)and willingness to lend a helping hand. Whether he was working on farm equipment or trucks, he enjoyed sharing his knowledge and love of mechanics with his son and grandsons. Outside of work, Bill enjoyed horse camping and trail riding, snowmobiling, hunting and in his younger days waterskiing. More than anything, he cherished spending time with his family and friends, creating memories that will be treasured for generations. Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Susan Price; his four children, Shelley Skinner of Indianapolis, Brenda (Buck) Minnich of Geneva, Ann (Jeff) Elmore of Bluffton, and Bruce Price of Poneto; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his father, William A. Price Sr., and his sister, Andrea (Tim) Price. Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Roberta Inskeep Price. A private family service has taken place with burial at St. Paul Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date this fall. Bill will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his lifelong commitment to farming, his remarkable mechanical talents, and the kindness and friendship he shared with everyone he met. His legacy of hard work, generosity, and love for family will continue to live on through those who knew and loved him.
