Mr. Robert B. House

Robert B. House, 89 of Bluffton passed away at 4:55 a.m. Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at River Terrace Estates in Bluffton. Mr. House was born on April 23, 1924 in Fremont, Ohio to Henry & Lucile (Keefer) House. On June 21, 1946 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Port Clinton, Ohio he married Marian Lee Thompson. They shared 58 years of marriage together before she preceded him in death on January 10, 2004. He proudly served our country in the United States Army during World War II from 1943 to 1946. He earned the rank of Sergeant in 1946 for his work as production control technician and statistical NCO at one of the major installations in the India-Burma Air Service Command. He decided to re-enlist and continue serving in the Army until 1950. He graduated in 1942 from Fremont Ross High School in Fremont, Ohio. He earned his B.S. in Business Administration from Toledo University. He worked in Finance as a Controller at General Electric and retired from the Eaton Corporation in 1977. Robert was a member of the American Legion Post #111 of Bluffton and the First Reformed Church and a former member of the Bluffton Elks Lodge. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye Fan and enjoyed gardening and traveling to tropical locations with his family. He volunteered for over 10 years at the Caylor- Nickel Clinic. He lived his life by his favorite phrase “ There’s not enough kindness in the world”. He is survived by his loving family; Nancy & Tim Flowers of Bluffton, Robert A. House and Richard D. House all of Bluffton along with Sharon L. Mayer of Wren, Ohio; and a brother Jack House of Fremont Ohio. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services for Robert will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, August 3rd at the Thoma/Rich, Chaney & Lemler Funeral Home with calling hours from 10 to 12 noon prior to the service. Dr. Bryson E. “Gene” Bell will officiate. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery with military honors preformed by the American Legion Post # 111 of Bluffton and the United State Army Honor Guard.
