Max E Perry

Max E. Perry, 75, of Bluffton passed early Friday morning, July 7, 2017, at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. Max was born on November 12, 1941 in Bluffton to Kenneth W. & Mary Jane (Grogg) Perry. He served our county in the United States Marines from 1960 to 1964 and retired in 1995, after working for 30 years as the Distribution Supervisor for the City of Bluffton Electric Department. He was a member of the American Legion Post #111 of Bluffton. On May 22, 1965 Max married Mary Jean (Thompson) and she preceded him in death in July10, 1994. On May 12, 2006, Max and Mary E. (Martin) were married and she survives. Survivors include his wife Mary of Bluffton and children; Tammy Jean Spaulding, Angela Doane, Martin (Tina) Stout, all of Bluffton, Charolette (Dave) Sawyer of Pennville and Jedediah (Amber) Garrison of Bluffton. He was a proud grandpa to 13 grandchildren; Sara (Henry) Clark, Sydney (Austin) Schortgen, Kelsey (Jeri) Marshall, Edward (Dawn) Spaulding, Joseph Perry, Arieonna Moss, Megan Sawyer, Nathan & Lauren Stout, Alyssa, Dylan and Alaina Garrison and Autumn Wittenburg along with 5 great-grandchildren: Emma, Wyatt and Lane McCune and Blakely & Graceyn Schortgen. Max is also survived by siblings: Howard (Beverly) Perry of Bluffton, Kenneth Perry of Keystone, Roxanna Thompson of Poneto and Jessica (Lowell) Lynn of Coatesville, Indiana. He is preceded in death by a daughter Mary Wanetta Steel, a grandson Blake Stout, a sister Mary Lucille Angelo and two brothers Harold & Ralph “Steve” Perry. A service to celebrate Max’s life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday (July 11, 2017) at the Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton. Pastor Steve Sutton will officiate. Burial will follow at Six Mile Cemetery with Military honors by the American Legion Post # 111 of Bluffton and the United State Marines Honor Guard. Calling Hours will be held from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M. on Monday at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Memorials may be made in Max’s memory to the Friends Who Care Cancer Relief Foundation. Max’s arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton.
