Elizabeth L. Mann

Elizabeth L. Mann died Tuesday, March 11, 2008 after a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer. Betty was born in Petroleum, Indiana on March 4, 1939 to the late Claude and Josephine Barnes, spending her childhood years there. She attended Petroleum High School and Warner School of Cosmetology, and in 1962 she moved to Bluffton, where she owned and operated the Fireside Boutique Beauty Salon. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Bluffton. After her retirement in 1989, she moved to Nokomis, FL to enjoy the sand and sun, but most of all to enjoy time with her family and friends, making countless loving memories. “Here at the beach I receive so many gifts. I am grateful for the inner peace that fills my soul. May I truly appreciate every moment spent with my loved ones on your earthly shores, while this life is so briefly mine.” Betty was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, business woman, and a true blessing to all of those who were fortunate enough to know her. She lived her life with a sense of humor and style, and her love of life could only be matched by her unselfish kindness she showed to others. Betty is survived by her husband of 52 years, William (Bill); her brother, Charles Barnes of Ft. Wayne; daughters Kim Durr of Bluffton, Kami (Tom) Osborne and Kelli (Jim) Beisel, both of Savannah, GA; and son Chip (Kim) Mann of Bluffton. She also leaves to cherish her memories 13 grandchildren: Parr, Ti and Palmer Durr; Kai (John) Louis, Kamann and Keenan Osborne; Emma, Court, Gus and Josie Beisel; Addie, Sadie, and Augie Mann. The family sincerely thanks extended family members and friends for their kind notes, visits, caring thoughts, and loving prayers. These small gifts were rays of sunlight on Betty’s dark and cloudy days. The family would also like to acknowledge Dr. Keith Johnson and the staff of Tidewell Hospice in Sarasota, Florida. Their expert care and deep compassion continue to help us through this most difficult time in our lives. Memorials may be made to Tidewell Hospice of Sarasota FL or the First Presbyterian Church in Bluffton. Visitation will be held at the Thoma/Rich Chaney & Lemler Funeral Home on Sunday, March 16th from 2 to 8 p.m.. Funeral Services will take place at the First Presbyterian Church in Bluffton at 10:30 a.m. Monday (March 17, 2008) with calling for one hour prior to the service at the church. “May we always take the time to watch a kite dance in the sky… to sing…to love…to take risks…and believe in your dreams.”
