Carolyn "Sue" Poulson

Carolyn “Sue” Poulson, 84 of Bluffton, passed away on Sunday January 24th at Signature Healthcare in Fort Wayne. Sue was born on April 25, 1936 in Linn Grove, Indiana to John S. and Ida I. (Hunnicutt) Collins. She was a 1954 graduate of Bluffton High School. After graduation, Sue attended Secretarial School at Ball State University. Sue was proud to have been the first person hired when Corning Glass Works came to Bluffton in 1964. She worked at Corning for 20 years and for the Indiana Department of Revenue for 17 years, retiring in 2002. Sue is survived by her former husband; Ira “Bob” Poulson of Liberty Center, sons; Steven R. (Angela) Poulson of Maryville, TN and Andrew L. (Brooke Brown) Poulson of Liberty Center, Step Grandchildren; Megan Schlechty, Ryan Weikel, Cory Weikel and Cody Brown. She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers; William L., Ted J. and Dean Lewis Collins. Sue was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Bluffton. She was a staunch Republican and quite a character, who always enjoyed making everyone laugh. Although Sue had been in declining health for several years, the family is pretty sure that the inauguration of Joe Biden was the last straw. Throughout her life, Sue never wanted to receive flowers. She always said they reminded her of a funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Childhood Leukemia Foundation or Riley Children’s Hospital and can be sent to the funeral home. Public visitation will take place on Wednesday, (Jan. 27, 2021) from 2 – 4 & 5 – 7 P.M. at the Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton. Funeral Services will be 10:30 A.M. on Thursday (Jan. 28, 2021) at the funeral home with Barry Crosbie officiating and calling for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Stahl Cemetery in Bluffton. The safety of the family and all visitors is our utmost priority. For everyone’s safety, we ask that you practice social distancing. Masks are required for visitation and for the funeral and cemetery service. During the current COVID-19 guidelines, we are only allowed a limited number of people in the building at a time.
