Carl D. Thompson

Carl Thompson 71 of Bluffton passed away at 10:13 a.m. Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Bluffton Regional Medical Center. He was born on June 22, 1943 in Wells County to Roy D. & Minnie (Wolf) Thompson. He graduated from Lancaster High School in 1962. Carl served honorably in the Indiana National Guard from 1964 to 1970, and was activated into the United States Army from 1964 to 1965. He worked at Corning Glass Works for 19 years and Eagle-Picher in Huntington for 20 years and various local part time jobs before he retired. Carl was a loving family man that enjoyed John Deere tractors and was a member of the Warren Tractor Club and Wheels of Yesteryear and was an avid coon hunter. On June 25, 1984, Carl and Rose (Spencer) were married in Bluffton. Rose survives in Bluffton along with children: Tim (Julie) Thompson of Poneto, Todd (Karen) Thompson of Bluffton, Teri Yates of Norwalk, Ohio, Curt (Nikki) Thompson of Ossian and Cindy Stiles of Pendleton, IN. He is survived by 11 grandchildren: Ashley (Dane) Zoda of Bluffton, Kaleb Thompson of Ossian, Megan ( Isaac Tungate) Thompson of Poneto, Indiana, Zachary Thompson of Poneto, Indiana, Kiefer Wendel of Pendleton, IN, Chancelor Stewart of Pendleton, IN, Brooklynn Thompson of Ossian, Clayton Thompson of Bluffton, Reid Thompson of Ossian, Grant Thompson of Bluffton and Rayna Thompson of Ossian and three great-grandchildren along with his brother Charlie Thompson of Bluffton. Carl is preceded in death by his beloved son Terry Lynn Thompson in 1995 and his brother David Thompson in 2005. A service to celebrate Carl’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday (June 9,2015) at the Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton. Pastor Don Laukhauf will officiate. Calling hours will be held on Monday from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. at the Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Prairie View Cemetery at Tocsin. Memorials may be made in Carl memory to the Warren Tractor Club, Wheels of Yesteryears or American Diabetes Association.
