Barbara A. Broman

Barbara A. Broman, 87, of Bluffton passed away Monday evening, July 17, 2017, at Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home in Fort Wayne. She was born on April 1, 1930 in Anderson, Indiana to Everett & Nellie May (Swain) Hunt. She married Ralph Anton Broman on December 25, 1951 in Richmond, Indiana, and he preceded her in death on December 19, 2011. Barbara graduated from Anderson High School in 1948, attended Ball State Teachers College and Indiana University in Fort Wayne. She worked as a Reference Librarian at Wells County Public Library from 1963-1965, and worked in the personnel office at Kitco Co. in Bluffton from 1972 to 1990. She was appointed by the Governor to serve on The Private Industry Council of Job Training Partnership Act. She was a member of the Foltz Literary Club and the League of Women Voters. Barbara is survived by four sons; David Alan Broman (Joyce Cylkowski) of Kokomo, Indiana; Robert Eric Broman (Karen) of Mequon, Wisconsin; Nelson Arthur Broman (Linda) of Bluffton, Indiana; Carl Edward Broman (Ellen Herbener) of Chicago, Illinois; one daughter, Nancy Christina Leonesio (Paul) of Mebane, North Carolina; a brother Max Hunt (Janet) of Anderson, Indiana. She was a loving Gramma Barb to nine grandchildren: Corey (Amber) Broman, Joseph ( Traci) Broman, Amberly (Wayne) Wyatt, Eric (Brittany) Broman, Benjamin (Anneliese) Broman , Royal and Mariah Broman, Angela (Casey) Morgan, Allison (Drew) Clark, and eleven great-grandchildren: Adam Walker, Mackenzie, Aiden, and Karlie Broman, Alexis & Eli Wyatt, Rick Smothers, Elise & Trek Morgan, Nora & Calvin Clark. Barb is also survived by a special caregiver Laura Werling of Ossian. She is preceded in death by four sisters: Caroline Gacharna, Eleanor Baker, Phyllis Tranbarger, Joanna Busby and three great-grandchildren; Chandler and Sierra Walker and Khloe Broman. Calling hours will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton and for one hour prior to the service. A service celebrating Barbara’s life will be held 10:30 on Friday (July 21, 2017) at the Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton. Pastor Caleb Reynolds will officiate. Burial will follow in the Garden of Chimes at Elm Grove Cemetery. Preferred memorials can be made to the Wells County Public Library Endowment Fund in care of the Wells County Foundation or Friends of Ouabache State Park.
