V. Ted Biberstine, 92 of Bluffton, passed away on Monday afternoon, October 26, 2020, at Signature Health Care in Bluffton. Ted was born on May 15, 1928 in Bluffton to Roy & Ethel (Hunnicutt) Biberstine and graduated from Bluffton High School in 1947. Ted & Phyllis Elaine (Jensen) were married on October 2, 1949 in Faribault, Minnesota. They celebrated their 71st anniversary earlier this month. Ted was active in the Boy Scouts of American and was recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. He worked for some time as a state trooper for the Indiana State Police and retired from his business, Ayres Insurance Adjusters in 1992. He was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Bluffton and the Masonic Lodge # 145 F. & A. M. of Bluffton. Ted and Phyllis enjoyed spending their time together fishing, hunting, traveling on their motorcycle, woodworking, walking the River Greenway and in the state park and loving their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include his bride of 71 years, Phyllis of Bluffton and children; V. Ked (Terry) Biberstine of Uniondale, Scott (Debbie) Biberstine of Bluffton, Kris (Dave) Troxel of Fremont, Tim (Jeanie) Biberstine, of Bluffton, and Cliff (Sandy) Biberstine of Bluffton. Ted was a proud grandpa to 9 grandchildren; Ashley Biberstine, Zachary (Kimberely) Biberstine, Quinn (Joe VanZant) Biberstine, Clint (Juniper) Troxel, Blake (Nike) Troxel, Alex (Joy) Troxel, Jessica (Jacob) Meeks, Brittany (Drew) Kellogg and 13 great-grandchildren; Ember Biberstine, Sam Grubisich, Liam Grubisich, James VanZant, Henry VanZant, Sage Troxel, Rowan Troxel, Adetayo Troxel, Kaylee Meeks, Carter Meeks, Cora Meeks, Tripp Kellogg and Piper Kellogg. He is also survived by a sister, Doris Woodward of Warsaw. Ted is preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Casey A. Biberstine, a brother, Joegene “Joe” Biberstine and a sister, Betty (Biberstine/Sturgis) Kain. Private family services will be held with burial at Fairview Cemetery in Bluffton. Memorials may be made in Ted’s memory to Bluffton River Greenway Preservation Fund, payable to the Wells County Foundation or Friends of the Ouabache State Park.
