Sheelah J. Hilliard, 59 of Bluffton passed away on Tuesday, May 03, 2016, in Fort Wayne. She was born on November 12, 1956 in Huntington, Indiana to Fred & Lois Jean (Bear) Harshman. Sheelah grew up in Markle and graduated from Huntington North High School in 1975. She was a very dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and aunt to her family. She also served proud mother to all the neighbor children. A homemaker, on May 10, 1980 in Huntington, Sheelah and Dennis D. Hilliard were married. Dennis survives in Bluffton along with two children: Amanda J. Hilliard, D.V.M of Houston, Texas and Gabriel S. (Victoria) Hilliard of Bluffton along with a grandson Nikoli M. Hilliard also of Bluffton. She loved all animals and had a fine appreciation for music. She was the lead vocalist for her band “Weekend Traffic” for many years. She was always a kid at heart and her infectious laughter captured the love of everyone who knew her. She is also survived by siblings: Fred (Darlene) Harshman of New Haven, Ron (Judy) Harshman of Fort Wayne and Shelley (Bill) Crockett of Roanoke, Indiana. She is preceded in death by her twin daughters Elizabeth & Sarah Hilliard, Granny (Hazel) Bear along with her parents Fred & Jean Harshman. A Service to Celebrate Sheelah’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday (May 6, 2016) at the Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton. Pastor Gary Endersby will officiate. Calling hours will be held from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be made to the Wells County Animal Shelter.
