Margaret E. “Peggy” Ayers, 100 of Bluffton, passed away on Friday afternoon, June 12, 2020, at Christian Care Retirement Community. She was born on October 18, 1919 in Bluffton to Ralph B. & Elizabeth (Perry) Henry. She graduated from Lancaster High School and attended Ball State University, where she met Robert H. Ayers. They were married on May 30, 1941 in Bluffton. He preceded her in death on July 16, 2004. She was a registered lab technician at the Caylor- Nickel Clinic and worked with Bob on the family farm for many years. In retirement, Margaret and Bob enjoyed traveling with friends and spending time in Florida in the winters and playing golf. Margaret was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church in Bluffton. Survivors include her son, Joe (Doreen) Ayers of Bluffton and was loving “Grandma Peggy” to 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Margaret is preceded in death by her husband Robert, along with two sons, William H. Ayers and Thomas “Turkey” H. Ayers, a sister, Carolyn Kidd and two brothers, Bobby & Jimmy Henry. The safety of the family and all visitors are our utmost priority. For everyone’s safety, we ask that you practice social distancing and masks are encouraged during your visit. We appreciate your cooperation and patience. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 on Wednesday, June 17, 2020, at the First United Methodist Church in Bluffton with Pastor Sherrie Drake and Pastor Dennis & Susie Wood officiating. Calling hours will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials may be made to First We Care through the First United Methodist Church or Friends Who Care Cancer Relief Foundation. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton. Friends can send online condolences to the family at www.thomarich.com.
