Geoffrey A Foughty Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Geoffrey A. Foughty 59, of Columbia City passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2016. He was born on March 14, 1957 in Bluffton to Herman & Martha (Jennings) Foughty. He graduated from Norwell High School in 1975. He worked at Wayne Metal in Markle for 20 years and was most recently working at Graphic Packaging in Kendallville. He was a member of the Bluffton Masonic Lodge # 145 and the Columbia City United Methodist Church. Geoff enjoyed living on the lake, spending time with his family, going on vacation, fishing and attending Cubs games. His pride and joy in life were his grandchildren. On August 3, 1979 in Ossian, Geoff and Diane S. (Slater) were married. He is survived by his wife Diane of Columbia City along with children: Shelli (Mike) Jenkins and Stefani Beach, of Fort Wayne along with four grandchildren: Cory & Kathryn Jenkins, Alexa & Ella Beach. He is also survived by his mother Martha Foughty of Ossian,IN along with 3 brothers, Greg Foughty (Carol) of Dayton, OH Cliff (Diane) Foughty of Rome City, IN and Curt (Karen) Foughty of Ossian, IN and 3 sisters, Terri (Chester) Prater of Bluffton, IN, Mick (Dennis) Qualkenbush of Shoals, IN, and Pastor Valarie (Alan) Foughty Killion of Paoli, IN. Additionally he is survived by 17 nieces and nephews, and 18 great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Herman Foughty and nephew Jordan Foughty. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 on Thursday (September 1, 2016) at the Columbia City United Methodist Church. Pastor Valarie Foughty Killion, Geoff’s sister, will officiate. A Celebration of Life gathering will take place immediately following the service at the family home. Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday (August 31, 2016) at the Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton. A Masonic Memorial service will take place at the conclusion of calling hours at 7 p.m. Memorials may be made in Geoff’s memory to Heart to Heart Hospice, Helpline of Whitley County or to the Whitley County Animal Shelter.
