Don E. Shane, 75 of Bluffton, passed away on Friday morning, August 28, 2020, at his residence. Don was born on September 8, 1944 in Bluffton to Lavon L. & Agnes (Maddux) Shane. He graduated from P.A. Allen High School in 1962, where he was active in the band and the Parlor City Drum Corp. He worked at General Electric in Fort Wayne for almost 40 years and retired in 2003. Don loved to take his family camping. He loved southern gospel music and look forward to attending concerts. He always looked forward to the Bluffton Free Street Fair! On October 23, 1965 in Bluffton, Don married Nancy E. (Heinzman) and they shared the last 55 years together. In his school years, Don attended Epworth United Methodist Church. Don and Nancy were married at the Mulberry Street Wesleyan Church, where they were faithful longtime members of that church until the church closed and they moved their membership to Sonlight Wesleyan Church. Survivors include his wife Nancy of Bluffton along with 3 sons; Richard L. (Tammy) Shane of Bluffton, Jeffery A. (Amy) Shane of Bluffton and Michael E. (Michelle) Shane of Ossian. Don was a loving Grandpa to 11 grandchildren; Mat, Kristina, Conley, Austin (Brianna), Jared, Kiah, Caeleb, Kara, Wesley, Hannah & Emma and 3 great-grandchildren; Recika, Zephaniah & Lyla. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William Thomas Shane and a sister, Karen Barcus. A service to celebrate Don’s life will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday (Sept. 2, 2020) at Sonlight Wesleyan Church in Bluffton with Rev. Lyle Breeding officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Bluffton. Memorials may be made to the Fairmount Wesleyan Campground or The Gospel Barn of Bluffton, Indiana. Visitation will be held on Tuesday (Sept.1, 2020) from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M. at the Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton and for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. The safety of the family and all visitors is our utmost priority. For everyone’s safety, we ask that you practice social distancing. Masks are required for visitation and for Don’s service at the church. We appreciate your cooperation and patience.
