Carol G. Sturgeon

January 26, 1962 - April 17, 2021

Carol G. Sturgeon, 59 of Bluffton, passed away on Saturday morning, April 17, 2021, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. Carol was born on January 26, 1962 in Portland, Indiana to Robert & Elizabeth (Franklin) Hesher. She attended Jay County Schools and graduated from Southern Wells High School in 1980. She enjoyed working in childcare and has maintained some very special and close friendships with those children to this day! She also worked at G. C. Murphy Company, and worked at Walgreens as a pharmacy tech, retiring in 2020 after 27 years of service. She was a member of the First Reformed Church in Bluffton. Carol enjoyed serving the Lord, spending time with her nieces and nephews, and all children. She also enjoyed gardening, working in her flowers, reading and sewing. On August 28, 1993 at the Liberty Center Baptist Church, Carol and James Sturgeon were married. Carol is survived by her husband Jim of Bluffton along with her siblings; Anita Isch of Dunkirk, Don Hesher of Bluffton, Harold (Becky) Hesher of Portland, Jane (Mike) Huffman and Tom (Anisa) Hesher, both of Montpelier. Carol is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews that were very special to her. Carol is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Bob Hesher. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at the First Reformed Church in Bluffton with Dr. Bryson “Gene” Bell officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery in rural Bluffton. Calling Hours will be held from 3 P.M. to 8 P.M. on Tuesday at the Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be made in Carol’s memory to First Reformed Church. The safety of the family and all visitors is our utmost priority. For everyone’s safety, we ask that you practice social distancing.
