Betty Jane Deihl

February 9, 1920 - September 19, 2015

Betty Jane (Miller) Deihl, 95 of Bluffton passed away at 10:27 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2015, at Christian Care Retirement Community in Bluffton. She was born in Bluffton on February 9, 1920 to Floyd & Lillian Mae (Watters) Miller. She graduated from Lancaster High School as the class Valedictorian in 1938. On February 10, 1940 in Craigville, Betty married Robert W. Deihl. They shared 66 years of marriage together before Bob preceded her in death on December 16, 2006. Betty was a full time mother and always busy volunteering her time at the church. Both Betty and Bob were active members of the First Presbyterian Church, and when there was something that needed to be done at the church or the Ladies Group, you would find Betty, always with a welcoming smile and happy to assist in any way. In her free time she enjoyed sewing, reading and was outstanding at working crossword puzzles. Betty approached each day, never complaining about anything but eager to take care of others. Betty was a proud mother to her daughter Rebecca A. (husband Raymond) Anderson of Sedona, AZ and her son Michael A. (wife Deborah) Deihl of Eureka, MT. She was a loving grandma to her three grandchildren: Samantha Sommerfeld of Tulsa, OK., Jeffery Anderson of Long Island, NY., and Scott Anderson of Flagstaff, AZ. Along with three great-granddaughters and four great-grandsons. She is also survived by her sister Louise Deihl of Bluffton. There will be no public visitation or service. Burial will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery in Bluffton next to her husband Bob. Memorials may be made in Betty’s memory to the First Presbyterian Church.
