Bernard W. Burke 87 of Ossian passed away at 4:00 p.m. on Friday (June 10, 2016) at Ossian Health & Rehab. Center. Bernie was born September 22, 1928 in Ohio to John & Cecile (Lehman) Burke. He served our country in the United States Army during the Korean War and worked as a truck driver for Food Marketing in Fort Wayne for over 42 years. In 1983, Bernard and Lura M (Duhamell) were married. She survives in Ossian along with stepchildren: Jeffrey (Sheila) Bear of Fort Wayne, Linda (Gerry) Houtz of Ossian and Vivian Kaylor of Las Vegas along with 10 Step-grandchildren and 27 step-grandchildren. He is survived by siblings: Richard (Maryann) Burke of Ossian, Leo (LaDonna) Burke of Yoder, Norm (Linda) Burke of Ossian, John (Marge) Burke of Huntington, Betty Gibson and Mary Ann Webb, both of Fort Wayne. He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 step-grandchildren and a brother Harry Burke and a sister Nancy Valentine. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday (June 14, 2016) at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Ossian. Jeff Lemler and Pastor Troy Drayer will officiate. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton.
