Alvin "Al" D. Massey

April 8, 1949 - May 6, 2019

Alvin “Al” D. Massey, 70, of Bluffton passed away on Monday evening, May 6, 2019, at his residence in Bluffton. Al was born on April 8, 1949 in Cass County, Indiana to Warner A. & Ruth E. (Rothrock) Massey. He graduated from Twin Lakes High School and earned an Associates of Science degree in business administration and finance from International Business College, and his Bachelors of Science from Indiana Tech. in Fort Wayne. Al worked as a cost accountant for Micro-Precision in Berne from 1984 until 2005. He was longtime member and Past Master of the Bluffton Masonic Lodge #145 F. & A.M. Al married Deborah K. (Nicholson) on January 20, 1979 in Wells County. In his retirement, Al and Debbie have enjoyed traveling and going on many trips to see the country. Al was an avid model train collector and enjoyed feeding all of the neighborhood critters. Survivors include his wife Debbie on Bluffton and a daughter, Lisa (Jason) Small of Poneto and three grandchildren; Spencer (Mariah) Massey, Jase Small and Taylor Small, along with two great-grandchildren; Emma & Brooks Massey. He is also survived by two brothers, Arlin (Carolyn) Massey of Florida and Ronald Massey of Monticello, Indiana. Services for Al will be held at 11 A.M. on Friday (May 10, 2019) at the Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton, with Pastor John Cole officiating. Calling hours will be held from 9 A.M. to 11 A.M. prior to the service. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery in Bluffton. Memorials may be made to Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society or Friends of the Wells County Animal Shelter through the Wells County Foundation. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Thoma/Rich, Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton. Friends can send online condolences to the family at www.thomarich.com.
