Mary A. Magley

Mrs. Mary A. Magley 82, passed away at her residence in Fort Wayne on Monday, September 3, 2012 surrounded by her family. Mrs. Magley was born on August 13, 1930 in Iuka, Mississippi to John Howell Scruggs, Sr. & Natalie Marie (Couillard) Scruggs – Lucombe. She graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in Natchez. It was at the Marine Corps. Headquarters in Washington, D.C. that she met and married Richard K. Magley. They lived there for 3 years before they moved to Fort Wayne where they raised their family and lived for the last 57 years. Her faith was very important to her and she was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church for 57 years, where she enjoyed attending mass. Her love and faith was an example to everyone who knew her. Just as James D. Freeman stated “The light of God surrounds me. The Love of God Enfolds me. The Power of God Protects me. The Presence of God watches over me. Wherever I am, God is.” She was a loving mother to three sons; Richard A. Magley of Fort Wayne, John K. (wife Tanya) Magley of Houston, TX and Keith A. Magley of Fort Wayne, and a caring and nurturing grandmother to seven grandchildren; Courtney, Paige & Parker Magley, Stephanie & Carolyn Magley and Christopher & Katie Magley along with 4 Great-Grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters; Mrs. Harriet (husband Alan) Wingfield of Natchez, MS and Melanie Shereb of San Antonio, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, a step-father William Lucombe, her loving husband Richard, two brothers John & Thomas Scruggs and a daughter-in-law Janice Magley. Friends are invited to visit with Mary’s family on Friday, September 7, 2012 from 2 to 4 & 5 to 7 at the D.O. Mc Comb & Sons- Pine Valley Funeral Home located on East Dupont Road in Fort Wayne. A private family service will be held on Saturday in Bluffton with burial following at Fairview Cemetery. There will also be a service in Natchez in the near future. Memorial may be made in Mary’s memory to American Cancer Society through the funeral home. The Thoma/Rich, Chaney & Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton is handling the arrangements.
