| Betty Rose Urshel, 81, of Bluffton, died at 11:50 a.m. Friday, July 9, 2010, at Lutheran Hospital. Mrs. Urshel was born in Bluffton on Jan. 27, 1929, to Carl and Dorothy (Elzey) Kinsey. She married Ralph Urshel Jr. at the Ossian United Methodist Church on Dec. 21, 1945; he survives.
Mrs. Urshel attended Rockcreek Schools. She worked for 10 years at Corning Glass in Bluffton, and loved to fish and travel, and spend time with her family. She and her husband shared 64 years together. Other surviving relatives include three daughters, Marjorie Smith of Huntington, Claudia (Ross) Christman of Neenah, Wis. and Kimberly (Mark) Pierce of Pelican Rapids, Minn.; two sons, Daniel (Gina) Urshel and Brent (Bev) Urshel, both of Ossian; one sister, Jean Mossburg of Markle; four brothers, Paul Kinsey of Lady Lake, Fla., Roger Kinsey of Noblesville, Max Kinsey of Markle and Neil Kinsey of Markle; 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Urshel was also preceded in death by one brother, Bob Kinsey; one sister, Mavis Doan; and a great-granddaughter, Crystal Smith. Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and from 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Thoma/Rich, Chaney and Lemler Funeral Home, 308 W. Washington St., Bluffton. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at the funeral home with the Rev. Cindy Osgood officiating. Burial is at Oaklawn Cemetery, in Ossian.
