| Martha A. Gahman, 83, Craigville, died at 6 p.m. Friday, July 2, 2010 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. Born on March 19, 1927 to Carl and Beulah (Tarr) Harris, she married Arthur V. Gahman on October 29, 1946 in Liberty Center; he died Sept. 2, 2009. Mrs. Gahman was a homemaker and also worked as a cook at Meadowvale Health & Rehabilitation Center and at Richards Restaurant in Decatur where she was known by the nickname “Mom.” She attended Lancaster High School and was a former member of the Craigville United Methodist Church. She was a life-long resident of Wells County. Survivors include five children, Ruth (Kenneth) Parrish of Decatur, Joanna (Tom) Bush of Monroeville, Donna (Ed) Mygrant of Huntington, Chris (Angie) Gahman of Uniondale, and Tina (John) Parrish of Decatur; two sisters, Velma Schlegel of Norris, Ill. and Imogene Hahn of Peru; a brother, Phil (Mary) Harris of Summitville; nine grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Freda Culp, Alice Jones and Ida Harris; and two brothers, John Harris and Paul Harris. Services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Thoma/Rich, Chaney & Lemler Funeral Home with Pastor Phil Harris officiating. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Thursday for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Craigville.
