Obituary:
Joseph “Joe” Gish, 72, of Bluffton, died at 4:50 p.m. Thursday, June 17, 2010 at Bluffton Regional Medical Center. Joe was born in Akron, Ohio on January 14, 1938, to Michael and Betty (Christion) Gish. He married Judy A. Guthrie in Bluffton on June 16, 1990; she survives. Joe graduated from Ohio City High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran, and a 35-year member of the American Legion Post 111. He was a life-resident of Wells County, and retired from Franklin Electric Company after 27 years of service. He attended the Park United Brethren Church, and enjoyed woodworking and playing the guitar. Other surviving relatives include four children, Joe F. Gish of Chicago, Tony Harris of Columbus, Ohio, Pam Baker of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Kim Harris of Aurora, Colo.; one brother, Michael Gish of Pineville, La,; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Ann Sawyer. Calling hours will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 21, and from 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 22, at the Thoma/Rich, Chaney & Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home with Pastor Larry Taylor officiating. Burial is at Six Mile Cemetery, in Bluffton, with military graveside rites by American Legion Post 111 and the U.S. Army honor guard. Preferred memorials are to the Park United Brethren Church.
