Jack K. Bowen, 78, of Rockford, Ohio, died at 11:29 p.m. Monday, Dec. 28, 2009, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne. Mr. Bowen was born in Bluffton on Sept. 22, 1931 to Lloyd and Justine (Sawyer) Bowen. A graduate of Bluffton High School, Mr. Bowen was a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Korean War. He worked as a factory worker at Aero Quip in Van Wert, Ohio, and owned three restaurant/bars in his lifetime including the Pirate’s Cove in Ligonier. He attended the First Christian Church. Jack loved growing roses, golfing and fishing. Surviving relatives include one daughter, Pam K. Bowen of Mendon, Ohio; three sons, Scott (Barb) Bowen of Rockford, Ohio, Bruce (Darla) Bowen of Kendallville, and Todd Bowen of Bradenton, Fla.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Bowen was also preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Barringer and Marilyn Bowen; and four brothers, Don, Jerry, Jim and Max Bowen. Calling hours will be from noon Saturday at the Thoma/Rich, Chaney & Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home with Pastor Thomas Clothier officiating. Burial is at Fairview Cemetery, in Bluffton.
